Tasuku Honjo, a 76-year-old professor at Kyoto University, was awarded on Monday the 2018 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine along with U.S. immunologist James Allison for their discovery of cancer therapy by inhibition of negative immune regulation.

A Japanese cell biologist was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine on Monday for discoveries on how cells break down and recycle their own contents, a process known as autophagy.
